Have you dreamed about building an enchanting woodland retreat or a charming backyard garden shed? Creating something beautiful with hand tools and found materials? If so, then this workshop is for you. Join us to combine the beauty of cordwood masonry with straw bales in the construction of another beautiful cabin at Wintergreen Studios.

Instructors: Rena Upitis & Tina Therrien

Rena Upitis is a mixed media artist, musician, teacher and timber frame carpenter. She has an abiding interest in sustainable architecture and has built several small cedar cordwood buildings with the help of friends and family. Her design for Wintergreen Studios uses straw bale and a living roof.

Tina Therrien is sole proprietor of Camel's Back Construction  and she brings her passion of the natural building world and teaching to the forefront of the business. Her building experience extends all across Ontario and beyond, including Haiti. Camel's Back Construction built and plastered the straw bale walls of the  Wintergreen Lodge.
